Ranked vs casual: when to turn on ratings

PickupPals ratings are optional on purpose. Used well, they help competitive players find an even match. Used everywhere, they add pressure to games that were meant to be fun.

Turn ranked on when…

• You want an even, competitive game.
• Players are chasing a rating and want it to count.
• You’re building a ladder or a regular competitive run.

Leave it casual when…

• It’s a relaxed, everyone-welcome game.
• Skill levels are all over the place and that’s the point.
• You just want to play without a scoreboard.

Ratings are per-sport and only move on ranked games where teammates choose to rate. Nothing you do casually will ever touch your number.
