Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 August 2026

This policy explains what PickupPals collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the PickupPals mobile app and this website.

Short version: we collect the minimum needed to show you games near you and let other players find you. We don’t sell your data.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details — username, email address and gender, used to create and secure your account.
  • Profile details — the sports you select, your country, province and city, and any position or description you add to a listing.
  • Content you post — pickup games you create, recruitment listings, game scores and teammate ratings you submit.

Information collected automatically

  • Location — if you grant permission, your approximate device location is used to centre the map and show nearby games. You can decline and search manually, and revoke permission at any time in device settings.
  • Device and usage data — app version, device type, OS version and basic crash diagnostics, used to keep the app working.

2. How we use it

  • To show pickup games and players near your area.
  • To operate the recruitment board so Scouts and Prospects can find each other.
  • To calculate optional per-sport ratings for ranked games.
  • To maintain your game history.
  • To detect abuse, diagnose crashes and improve the app.

3. What other users can see

PickupPals is a social app, so some information is visible to other users by design: your username, the sports on your profile, your city and province, your gender marker, your per-sport ratings, and any listings or games you create. The address of a game you host is visible to people who can see that game.

Your email address is not shown to other users, and your precise device location is never published — only the city-level area you set and the addresses you attach to a game.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that run the app’s infrastructure (hosting, database, authentication, crash reporting and maps — map features use Google Maps under Google’s privacy policy), and with legal authorities where required by law.

5. Retention

We keep your account information while your account is active. If you delete your account we remove your profile and personal information, though anonymised records of past games may remain in other players’ histories.

6. Your choices

  • Location — grant or revoke any time in device settings.
  • Profile — edit your sports, city and details in the app.
  • Ratings — always optional.
  • Deletion — request account deletion any time; see Support.

7. Children

PickupPals is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

9. Changes

If we make material changes we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
